Mr. Khalid Ghori was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from Karachi University in 1981 and pursued an articleship from ICAP (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan) Karachi between 1981 and 1984. However, rapid growth in the business required his immediate presence at one of MATCO’s turnkey projects in 1984 which involved the complete testing and operation of a parboil rice plant.
Between 1986 and 1989, Mr. Khalid Ghrori was completely in charge of Jawed Rice Mills in Larkana. In 1990, when MATCO Rice Processing was being set up in Karachi, Khalid Ghori contributed to the project from the drawing board stage to the final fabrication, installation and operation stage. In 1995, Mr. Khalid Ghori initiated setting up MATCO Until ll for providing additional capacity, using in-house design and system engineering capabilities, consisting of Japanese, Thai and Chinese machinery.
Working closely with growers and suppliers and suppliers from the rice growing belt in Punjab, Mr. Khalid Ghori established a unique Rice Cultivating Monitoring Program and opened a
research and control office for MATCO in Lahore to improve crop quality.
With an experience of over 20 years in the purchase and processing of rice, Mr. Khalid Ghori is the “guru of rice buyers in Pakistan.” He utilized his vast experience in assessing the quality of agri-products and pays special attention to the entire procurement and production process. In 2005/06 season Mr. Khalid Ghori purchased around 70,000 tons of rice from different areas of Pakistan.
