Dr. Tariq Ghori was born in Karachi, Pakistan. From 1974 to 1979 he attended the famous Cadet College Petaro, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as the College Junior Under Officer and a final year gold medalist. Although he graduated from Dow Medical College, Pakistan’s Premier medical institution, in 1986, he decided to adopt a career in business. To this end, he completed coursework in business marketing and finance from California State University, Long Beach Between 1987 and 1991.
Upon returning in 1992, he joined the family business. He played a pivotal role in the completion of Faiyaz Center, a multi-storey office building on Karachi’s # 1 thoroughfare Sharah-e-Faisal.
When MATCO Rice processing was set up in Karachi, Dr. Tariq Ghori managed the company’s finances and its relationship with lending institutions, a responsibility that he has managed ever since.
As the head of marketing and sales, Dr. Tariq Ghori has a vast experience in developing new marketing new markets and appointing distributors in strategic locations. He has been instrumental in the brand development and positioning for
Falak Basmati Rice in over 30 countries. He is a regular participant in renowned world food fairs such as SIAL in France, ANUGA in Germany, The Fancy Food Show in New York, USA and many other food fairs.
Dr. Tariq Ghori is a founding member of the Rice Exporters’ Association of Pakistan (REAP) and is currently a member of REAP’s Managing Committee as well as being the president of the Pakistan Basmati Rice Promotion Committee of REAP. Additionally, for three years, Dr Tariq Ghori has served the Government in the capacity of Special Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
